Kia ora! I’m Katie Double, and welcome to my harp and electronic music project based in Ōtautahi/Christchurch.

I perform contemporary and original harp music, and produce electronic music with harp. My typical performance style involves live looping with electronic effects. I am available for bookings for various events.

My journey with harp, and music in general, started from a very young age. I was classically trained as a harpist from the age of 7. The harp’s warm, resonant tone captivated me from the beginning, and its sound will always feel like home. I credit my mom’s background as a music teacher and my dad’s willingness to drag my harp around the city and take me to lessons for where I’ve landed today.

But as I grew, so did my musical appetite. I found myself drawn to the possibilities that lay beyond the classical world: sounds that were layered, distorted, looped, and remixed. That curiosity drew me into the world of electronic music and production, where I began blending the harp’s timeless elegance with the rhythm and texture of modern sound. This journey became Dubzle, my electronic harp project, where I push the boundaries of what the harp can do through soundscapes and live looping.

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, I moved to New Zealand in 2015 in search of adventures. I became obsessed with the landscape, the people, and the weird birds, and I have been here ever since.

Are you looking for a harpist for your next event in Christchurch or Canterbury? I play a variety of styles but specialise particularly in contemporary music with an electronic twist. Giving a modern edge to a traditionally classical instrument, I often play sets with effects pedals, which allows for looping, delay, granular synthesis, and other vibey effects.

I have been moving away from strictly repertoire-driven music in recent years and instead tend to sprinkle some original songs and improv in my sets.
